- 1 cup glutinous rice
- 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 ripe mangoes
- Sesame seeds or mung beans (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the rice and prepare a steamer lined with cheesecloth.
- Steam the rice for about 25-30 minutes until tender.
- Combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
- Transfer the cooked rice to a bowl and pour 1 cup of warm coconut milk mixture over it; stir gently.
- Let the rice sit for about 15 minutes to absorb flavors.
- Serve the sticky rice topped with sliced mangoes and drizzled with remaining coconut milk.
Notes
For variety, try using different fruits like bananas or strawberries. Ensure to soak the rice for the best texture.
